Neuronguard, the transformational Italian startup company that works to prevent Acute Brain Damage, won the Intel Business Challenge in the category “Internet of Things Hardware”. As many readers know, the Internet of Things is a rapidly expanding new area of high technology that has both fierce competition and huge green space for disruptive innovation. I would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Enrico Giuliani (Founder & CEO) and Mary Franzese (Marketing & Communication Manager) for this fantastic achievement!

Five million people suffer from acute brain damage — it is the first cause of permanent disability. Neuronguard has developed a refrigerating collar that reduces the temperature of the brain so as to reduce the severity of the damage. If this technology is deployed early and onsite, it can lead to substantial reduction in the fallout from brain damage. The technology is portable, so the clinical outcome is maximized. They plan to sell these amazing devices to hospitals and emergency services.
