For those interested in the interplay between Italy and Silicon Valley, make sure to pick up a copy of the forthcoming book Italiani di frontiera. Dal West al Web. Un'avventura in Silicon Valley, by Roberto Bonzio. The book traces the journey of Italians into the West – into the depths of Silicon Valley as well – and back to the bel paese. The book will come out in mid April and is edited by EGEA (Bocconi) with a forward by Gian Antonio Stella, who happens to be the author’s most favored Italian journalist. The forward will also be pushed as an article in the Corriere della Sera.

What lessons does Silicon Valley and the American West teach the enterprising minds of the world? And what lessons can be brought back to places across the oceans – like Italy – and be applied in the march of progress? In this book, the reader follows a trip to the West and back to Italy, during which thousands of stories are discovered and analyzed. These lessons offer a clue to better understand the extraordinary potential of the California mindset for Italy, as well as points out the cultural barriers to be overcome in Italy.

Roberto Bonzio will be in the Bay Area soon with the Italian Frontier Silicon Valley Tour for entrepreneurs and managers in the last week of April. We’ll keep you updated as the book emerges and how to get it. To get a fuller sense of Mr. Bonzio’s views on Silicon Valley entrepreneurialism in Italy, check out the talk below which he gave in Palermo.
